Dear Veteran Seminary Teachers,
I am interested in what incentives you have used for passing off Master
Scriptures, Being on Time, Prepared Devotionals, Answering Questions etc. I
used "Spiritual Beans" last year (Pintos= $1.00, Red=$5.00 etc) and I held a
Seminary Auction at the end of the year. I know many teachers use some form
of Mormon Money, I don't want the incentives to overshadow or distract from
the real prize of learning or to be so complicated it takes a lot of money
and time to support it. Any simple, successful ideas that go with
D&C/Church History would be appreciated. I have been considering using a
General Store idea either throughout the year or at the end instead of the
Auction. I am thinking to have items that might have been found in a
General Store in Joseph Smith's time period such a Yo Yo's, Peppermint
Sticks, Red and Black Licorice Ropes, Marbles and such things. I was
considering at the end of the year in place of the Auction having a General
Store where the Students could use whatever medium I use for incentives and
have someone teach the Students how to play Marbles, make Honey Candy and
dance the Virginia Reel. Any ideas or experiences will be appreciated.
