Dear {$user.name_f}:

2007 PRIMARY THEME!
Gear up for the new year now! We are beginning to add the material for 2007 to the Primary Knowledgebase, and 2007 Stickers are now on sale in our store! The delightful logos were designed by LDS Illustrator, Scott Jarrard. Scott's illustrations have appeared in the Friend and in our own Prophets of the Restoration FHE Kits. Scott worked as a graphic artist for Sony Playstation for many years before becoming a free lance artist, and we are thrilled to have his work here at LDV.

NEW IN OUR STORE

I (Debra) attended the LDS Bookseller's Association Convention two weeks ago (I even got a hug from Kenneth Cope!), and found so many wonderful things that I believe our members would appreciate - so you will be seeing more and more teacher resources and LDS items at LDV than ever before!

NEW D&C Church History Items:

  • Doctrine & Covenants Made Easier by David J. Ridges - all three volumes
  • Every Person in the Doctrine & Covenants by Lynn Price - This valuable book provides pertinent biographical information on more than 220 individuals and groups mentioned in the text and headings of the Doctrine and Covenants.
  • Handcart Pioneers - vinyl figures - a five piece set - great for use with the Church History Felt Map or with many Church History games you might play.
  • Joseph Receives the Plates - white resin figurine
  • Joseph & Emma - white resin figurine
  • Restoration Collection Handmade Soaps - an LDV exclusive - Did you know what Joseph was doing the week before the First Vision? He and his family produced 1000 pounds of maple sugar from their own trees, and our special "Maple Sugar" scented soap will remind you of this historic event. Three wonderful soaps are included in this collection - learn more . . .
  • Joseph - A Nashville Tribute to the Prophet - I heard the producer and his wife perform a number from this award winning new album at the Bookseller's Convention - and it was powerful!
  • What's in YOUR Handcart T-shirts - Perfect for D&C/Church History Seminary curriculum year - coordinated with our matching keychains, stickers, and printables - this delightful design by Jon Hoeveler will make old and young take stock of where their priorities lie.

WHAT'S YOUR SIGN?

One of the hottest emerging LDS markets is vinyl lettering, on wooden signs and wall stickers. We now carry a line of finely crafted signs (wall lettering coming soon) from Country Craft Corner. Available in several styles and many colors, these signs come with all mounting hardware already installed. They are sure to provide inspiration in any decor. Check out the Family Home Evening Assignment board, a fun way to get the whole gang involved. Country Craft Corner is owned and operated by Tim's daughter, Heidi Allan. We are so pleased to offer her products!

We would like to introduce you to our LDV Scrapbook Specialist - Elaine Wright! Elaine has been teaching scrapbook classes for several years in Tennessee. Visit our Scrapbooking Department - see Elaine's latest lessons, and be sure to send in your own photographs of completed scapbook pages to our Image Gallery!

The scrapbooking industry started with latter-day saints in Utah, but it has become a worldwide cross cultural PHENOMENON - as one trip to your local craft store will attest! I now find that craft stores have devoted nearly half their floor space to scrapbooking supplies! But here in the center of LDS culture where it all began, I have a hard time finding any LDS scrapbook papers or stickers or die-cuts - so what is up with that???? Many of the companies that started in this industry are located in Utah and do have a line of LDS products, but they are very hard to find. So with much digging and research and correspondance, we are beginning to feature many LDS products in our store! Additionally, we are developing our own line of LDS die cuts and vinyl lettering and scrapbook paper designs! Here are some of the companies we are working with:

SCRIPTURE MASTERY TAKES STAGE!

We finally did it - recorded the scripture mastery verses for the Doctrine & Covenants and uploaded them to the web site. I (Debra) am a professional character actress, and with the help of my husband and a talented voice over artist from our old ward in Kettering, Ohio, each verse has been read in a different character voice. You could do lip-synch with them, challenging students to bring some simple prop or costume piece for a fun alternative scripture mastery game. ALSO INCLUDED is the set of Magic Square Rhythmic Rhymes set to percussion beats. All in all a ton of fun. You can find them in our Free Sampler knowledgebase. The audio tracks are in MP3 format, available as single verse downloads, or broadband users can download an entire zipped package.

VILLAGE DOWNLOAD DEPOT

All aboard! Latter-day Village is so excited to be able to sell downloadable products in our store! These products are immediately available upon completing the purchase, no shipping delays. Our first offering is Grettle Payne's Doctrine and Covenants Scripture Mastery Charts - and much more is on the way! Nearly anything in digital format can be added, and we have big plans underway! Whether it is clip art collections, fine art collections, scrapbook collections, music, ebooks, videos, software programs, teacher resources and more, we know you will appreciate the access, ease, immediate gratification and low price of digital downloads. And as distributors, we are able to publish projects that would otherwise not be available. Saving on production, warehousing, shipping and the cost of overhead involved in brick and mortar retail stores, we can accept more submissions than a typical publisher. The creators will get a better compensation, and you save money on your purchases. It is a win/win/win situation we are so excited about. We still maintain a high standard of professionalism, but without the major constraints of traditional publishing. Let us know if you are interested in having your work published!

THANKS FOR SPREADING THE NEWS!

We want to thank everyone who participated in our Aug/Sep contest to refer new subscribers to Latter-day Village!  Word of mouth is a great way to grow.  Deborah Grisham referred Marti Mietus, welcome Marti, and won the prize drawing for the contest!  Congratulations Deborah!  You win a D&C Scripture Rock CD!

So let's keep it up!  For the next 31 days we will again keep track of all who refer new paid subscribers to the web site, and have a NEW prize drawing for one of our wonderful LDS Scrapbook Kits from Holey Sole!  Depending on who wins, we have a Primary kit and a Church History kit we will be giving away.  So tell your friends and remind them to list your name or email address in the referrer box when they register.

MAINTAINING A CURRENT EMAIL ADDRESS

There are many reasons to change an email address; e.g. avoiding spam, changing ISP's, employment moves. However, it is important that you keep your email address current in your LDV registration. We send renewal and payment notices via email, as well as newsletters and news flashes. Here are two important pieces of information regarding your email address:
